I knew this was an extremely rare type for Titus Caesar (based on never seeing one in trade beforehand), but it wasn’t until I begun researching this coin that I fully realised the extent of its rarity. The RIC frequency rating is quite deceptive!
I got this ex Curtis Clay coin because of the stellar portrait and neat provenance. Plus, I really dig these big o’l chunky bronzes!
I’ve only seen one of these in trade in nearly 20 years. Needless to say I had to have it! The provenance isn’t too shabby either.
